What is it & Why do we need it?

The California Voter ID Initiative is a proposed state constitutional amendment that would require voter identification in all future elections. Because it would be a constitutional amendment, if approved by voters it would apply in all future elections without exception.

You may have seen petitions being circulated for this initiative. The goal is to collect 1 million signatures statewide to place the measure on the November 2026 ballot for all California voters to decide. In recent elections, concerns have been raised about possible fraud and validation of people casting votes.

Did you know:

You currently don't need to show identification to vote in person? If passed, this initiative would require election officials to verify citizenship before a person is eligible to receive a ballot.
It would require voters to show a government-issued photo ID for in-person voting or provide the last four digits of a government ID when voting by mail.

This initiative is needed to protect the integrity. We need to protect the voting process. Help get the VOTER ID INITIATIVE on the ballot for next year…. Sign the petition!

Section 4.5 of Article XIII A of the California Constitution is added to read:

Sec. 4.5. RESTORING LOCAL TAXPAYER PROTECTIONS.

(a) Starting with Proposition 13 in 1978, California voters have passed four statewide initiatives to protect themselves from excessive taxation, limit property-related taxes, and require two-thirds voter approval for local special taxes. These protections were the law for decades. Despite the voters’ clear intent, court-created loopholes have allowed special interests to pass billions in new and higher taxes, including real property transfer taxes greatly exceeding the statutory limit for most cities……….
